The sale of Holy Relics, the human remains of Catholic Saints, is a grave issue and offense against the Catholic faith. The Code of Canon Law 1190 reads "It is absolutely forbidden to sell sacred relics. Relics of great significance and other relics honored with great reverence by the people cannot be alienated validly in any manner or transferred permanently without the permission of the Apostolic See."
Additionally, eBay's own policy concerning the sale of human body parts and remains reads "We don't allow humans, the human body, or any human body parts or products to be listed on eBay. If you are selling a first-class relic, you must state in the item description what the relic is made from. If it's a human remain it can't be sold if it's made from any body part except human scalp hair.
But at any given time one can search eBay and find hundreds of 1st class relics availble for sale on their site. Don’t allow this sacrilege against the Catholic faith to continue! Sign the Petition now!
To Whom It May Concern,
The sale of Catholic Relics is not only a great and terrible offense against the Catholic faith, it is also explicitly against your very own corporate policy concerning the sale of human body parts and remains.
As a Catholic, we ask that you remove all current listings of Catholic relics containing the mortal remains of the Saints and actively monitor and prohibit any future listings.
Please consider this request. Until that time, I will refuse to either buy or sell any items on your site.
